Comparison
Looking for a TiViMate alternative on Samsung or LG?
TiViMate is a well-regarded Android TV player, and if you own a Fire TV Stick or an Android TV box it is a strong choice. The reason people look for an alternative is usually simpler than features: TiViMate does not run on Samsung Tizen or LG webOS. Scope TV does — and you add your playlist from a phone or laptop instead of typing it with a remote.
Scope TV is a player application only. It does not include channels, content or a subscription — you connect the playlist you already have from your own provider.
Side by side
| Scope TV | TiViMate | |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Smart TV (Tizen) | Scope TV Runs natively on Tizen, from 2016 sets onwards. | Not supported. The usual workaround is plugging an Android or Fire TV device into the TV's HDMI port. |
| LG Smart TV (webOS) | Scope TV Runs natively on webOS 3.0 and later. | Not supported. Same external-device workaround applies. |
| Android TV & Fire TV | Equal Supported — Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV Stick, Cube and Shield. | Supported, and this is the platform it was built for. |
| Adding a playlist | Scope TV Entered on a phone or laptop through the web portal. Nothing is typed on the TV with a remote. | Entered on the device itself, through the app's Add Playlist screen. |
| Managing several TVs | Scope TV Every device in one browser account — rename it, swap its playlist, check its licence. | Playlists are managed per device, in the app on that device. |
| Unlocking the paid version | Scope TV Bought in the browser. No second app, no phone required. | Requires the separate TiViMate Companion app on an Android phone or tablet to purchase and activate. |
| Free trial | Equal 7 days with every feature unlocked, on each device. No card. | A free tier with a reduced feature set, rather than a time-limited full trial. |
| Recording | TiViMate Not offered. | Offered in the premium version. |
| Maturity | TiViMate New in 2026, with a smaller feature set and no long track record yet. | Years of releases and a large, established user base. |
| Price | Equal €4.99 per year for a Smart TV, €2.99 for Android TV. Per device, no auto-renewal. | A yearly subscription or a one-off lifetime licence, per its published pricing. |

When TiViMate is the better choice
- You only use Android TV or Fire TV devices. TiViMate is mature, actively developed and built specifically for that hardware — there is no platform gap for Scope TV to close.
- You want recording. Scope TV does not record streams; TiViMate's premium tier does.
- You want a long track record. TiViMate has years of releases behind it. Scope TV launched in 2026, and no amount of marketing copy substitutes for that.
- You prefer configuring everything on the television itself rather than on a phone or laptop.
Moving your playlist across
- 1
Keep your playlist details
Your Xtream portal URL, username and password — or your M3U link — come from your provider, not from the player. They work in any player that accepts them, so nothing needs replacing.
- 2
Install Scope TV on the television
Search the Samsung, LG, Google Play, Amazon or VIDAA store for Scope TV, depending on the set.
- 3
Enter the code from the TV screen here
The app shows a device code. Type it on this website with your playlist details, restart the app, and your channels, films and series are there. The 7-day trial starts on that device, so you can compare the two players side by side before paying.
Common questions
Does TiViMate work on a Samsung or LG TV?
Not natively — it is an Android TV application, and Samsung's Tizen and LG's webOS are different operating systems. The common workaround is to connect a Fire TV Stick, Chromecast with Google TV or NVIDIA Shield to the television's HDMI port and run TiViMate on that. Scope TV installs directly on the television instead, with no extra hardware.
Can I use my existing playlist with Scope TV?
Yes. Your Xtream Codes credentials or M3U link belong to your provider, not to any player, so the same details work here. Nothing needs to be re-purchased or re-issued.
Is Scope TV better than TiViMate?
Not in general — it depends on your hardware. On Samsung and LG televisions Scope TV runs and TiViMate does not, which makes the comparison straightforward. On Android TV and Fire TV, TiViMate is mature, well-liked and has features Scope TV lacks, such as recording. That is the honest answer, and the free trial exists so you can judge it on your own television rather than take our word for it.
Why do I add the playlist on a phone instead of the TV?
Typing a portal URL, username and password with a remote control is slow and error-prone. Doing it in a browser also keeps the credentials off the TV screen entirely. The trade-off is that you need a second device to hand during setup — if you would rather do everything on the television, that is a genuine reason to prefer a player that works that way.
Do you provide channels or an IPTV subscription?
No. Scope TV is a player application only. We do not sell, resell, host or provide channels, content or playlists, and we have no connection to any content provider.
